Aprilia's all-new 2020 RS-GP

Aprilia has provided the first pictures of its 'all-new' 2020 RS-GP MotoGP machine, which will make its track debut at Sepang.
Seeking to break free from the bottom of the constructors' standings, the Italian factory has introduced a raft of changes for this year's bike.
Perhaps most notably, the bike now has a 90-degree V4 engine (previously it had a narrower V angle), matching the likes of Ducati and Honda.
The aerodynamics have also been redesigned, with the pictures provided to the media showing an aggressive front wing and new front wheel brake cover (but no swingarm spoiler, which is now part of the Aero Body rules),while substantial work has also gone into the electronics and chassis.

Aprilia has expanded its racing department by acquiring new engineers from the likes of Ferrari, Suzuki, Ducati, Lamborghini and BMW.Being a concession team (alongside KTM) means Aprilia is allowed to have its test and race riders on track for both Sepang outings, although Andrea Iannone's current suspension for failing an anti-doping test means the Italian will definitely miss at least the Shakedown (his FIM hearing is on February 4). As a result, test rider Bradley Smith is to take on Iannone's planned workload alongside Aleix Espargaro, with Lorenzo Savadori due to get MotoGP test experience on the 2019 bike. Aprilia's target for the new RS-GP is to start in the top 15, but be able to beat its existing best finish of sixth place by the end of the season.
